Avar - The Art of Data Science

Avar Consulting, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMDEX Corporation, is a policy research firm with more than 20 years of leadership and experience in social science research, data collection and analysis, program evaluation, and policy analysis. Avar seeks a Research Analyst to join our team, supporting our Federal government client.

Position Overview

The primary function of this position is to manage, process, organize, and gather information on incoming patient medical records promptly while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of secured information. Similar duties on other projects may be assigned, as needed.

Primary Duties:

• Design and implement systems: Create and maintain filing systems, classification schemes, checklists, and record schedules.   
• Verify the accuracy of patient records and conduct audits.
• Safeguard patient information and other private information and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and other legal and regulatory requirements.
• Create tables, exhibits, memoranda, or other communications products summarizing progress and results.
• Assist in notetaking and creating/updating documentation. 
• Gather patient demographic information and data for research.
• Create reports on medical records management activities.
• Respond to inquiries: Provide information to authorized people in a timely manner. 

Required Qualifications / Experience:

• Must have a dedicated home office and reliable internet access to allow for secure viewing of protected health information.
• Two or more years in medical records management or working with health care records in a related capacity.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Microsoft Excel. 
• Ability to perform detailed work consistently, accurately, and under pressure
• Must be able to read and follow instructions
• Must demonstrate self sufficiency in finding solutions to routine problems
• Must take the initiative to ask questions when necessary to complete tasks correctly

Education

• Undergraduate degree in health information management preferred or possess professional certification in medical records management and knowledge of healthcare regulations.
